Which islands are close to Mykonos?

There are many islands close to Mykonos like the famous Santorini, the islands of Andros, Tinos, Milos, Ios, Syros, Paros and Naxos. These islands have daily connections to Mykonos, so if you combine boats you can visit even more islands and add more destinations to your greek island hopping experience.

How far away are these islands from Mykonos?

Santorini is approximately 3 hours from Mykonos in a high speed vessel whereas Andros is about 2 ½ hours away and it is serviced both by high speed and conventional boats. The island of Tinos has the most frequent connection with Mykonos and the trip lasts around 30 minutes. The island of Milos is located a little bit further being connected to Mykonos only in summer months with high speed vessels with the voyage to last only 4 ½ hours. The island of Ios is 2 ½  hours from Mykonos, while Syros island is just 1 1/2 hour away and the islands of Paros and Naxos are 2 hours and 45 minutes away respectively.

What are there to see in these islands?

Santorini is famous for its sunset, the impressive caldera, the volcano, the tastes and the black beaches. In Tinos, you have to visit the church of Virgin Mary at the port of the island along with the many villages. Once in Milos, do not miss swimming in the beautiful beaches, whereas in Ios visit the beach of Mylopotas and live the vibrations of its nightlife. Syros is the capital of the Cyclades and its Town has many beautiful buildings. In Paros, you will enjoy the pristine beaches and the water sports whereas in Naxos visit the capital of the island, taste the products like the unique Citrus liqueur and visit the castles and the archaeological sites scattered across the island.

Which is the best time to visit them?

This is actually not a question of time but it depends more on the ferry connection between the islands. For example Mykonos is connected with Andros and Tinos throughout the year whereas with Santorini, Milos and Ios the connections lasts only for the summer months.
